Effect of seaweed extract, vermiwash and biofertilizers on growth, yield and B:C ratio of Yard Long Bean (Vigna unguiculata sub sp. sesquipedalis)
Abstract
The present investigation entitled “Effect of seaweed extract, vermiwash and biofertilizers on growth, yield and B:C ratio of Yard Long Bean (Vigna unguiculata sub sp. sesquipedalis)” was conducted during the Rabi season 2024 at the Center of Excellence on Protected Cultivation and Precision Farming, IGKV, Raipur, (C.G.). The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design (RBD) with three replications consisting of eleven treatments. The treatments included viz., T1-Control, T2-Vermiwash @ 5% (D) + Seed treatment with Mycorrhiza, T3-Vermiwash @ 5% (D) + Drenching of Mycorrhiza and Azotobacter, T4-Vermiwash @ 5% (FS) + Seed treatment with Azotobacter, T5-Vermiwash @ 5% (FS) + Drenching of Mycorrhiza and Azotobacter, T6-Seaweed @ 2.5 ml/lit (D) + Seed treatment with Mycorrhiza, T7-Seaweed @ 2.5 ml/lit (FS) + Drenching of Mycorrhiza and Azotobacter, T8-Complex Micronutrients @ 2.0 g/lit (D) + Seed treatment with Azotobacter, T9-Complex Micronutrients @ 3.0 g/lit (D) + Drenching of Mycorrhiza and Azotobacter, T10-Complex Micronutrients @ 2.0 g/lit (FS) + Seed treatment with Mycorrhiza, T11-Complex Micronutrients @ 3.0 g/lit (FS) + Drenching of Mycorrhiza and Azotobacter. We applied a foliar application and drenching of seaweed extract, vermiwash, biofertilizers and micronutrients was done at 20, 40, and 60 days after sowing. The results revealed that treatment T3 recorded significantly maximum vine length (334.71 cm), number of branches per plant (14.99), number of leaves per plant (149.94), number of flower bunches per plant (26.63) and pod yield per ha (103.91 qha-1). Treatment T3 also recorded the maximum value, with the highest B:C ratio (3.98). A non-significant effect was found for the days to emergence, days to first picking, number of seeds per pods, pod diameters (cm) and number of pickings. The minimum value for the above parameters was recorded in Treatment T1 (control).
