Benzoic acid in hyperuricemic disorders: A homoeopathic perspective

Abstract

Hyperuricemia is a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated serum uric acid levels, often associated with gout, joint inflammation, and renal complications. Conventional treatments include xanthine oxidase inhibitors, uricosurics, and lifestyle modifications. However, long-term pharmacotherapy presents adverse effects for some patients. In homoeopathy, individualized remedy selection aims to restore physiological balance and address underlying susceptibility. Benzoic Acid (Acidum benzoicum) has been clinically observed to be effective in patients with hyperuricemia, particularly where uric acid deposition, arthritis, and urinary symptoms predominate. This article examines the rationale, pathogenesis-based indications, symptomatology, materia medica supporting the use of Benzoic Acid.
