Holistic homoeopathic approach in the management of chronic varicose ulcer: A case report

Abstract

Background: Varicose ulcer is a common manifestation of chronic venous insufficiency, particularly among individuals engaged in prolonged standing and heavy physical labour. It leads to significant morbidity due to pain, discharge, infection, and delayed healing. Conventional management often includes compression therapy and surgical intervention; however, recurrence is frequent. Case summary: A 30-year-old male construction worker presented with a chronic non-healing ulcer over the anterior aspect of the left leg for 2years, associated with pain, burning sensation, offensive discharge, and varicosities. Based on detailed case taking and repertorization, Nitric acid 200 was prescribed as the constitutional remedy. Progressive improvement was noted over four months. Conclusion: Complete healing of the ulcer was achieved without recurrence during follow-up. This case highlights the potential role of individualized homoeopathic treatment in the management of varicose ulcers.
