Homoeopathic management of Hypothyroidism: An evidence-based case report

Abstract

Hypothyroidism is a hypo-metabolic state resulting from inadequate secretion of thyroid hormones leading to various physiological and psychological symptoms. Conventional medicine (allopathy) for hypothyroidism typically involves lifelong hormone replacement therapy with synthetic levothyroxine. Case summary: A 13-year-old male child presented with physical weakness as well as mental weakness for 1 year. The physical general symptom of disease was as expected to the clinical presentation of disease. Individualised homoeopathic medicine was selected for this patient, based on these peculiar symptoms and complete recovery was seen with the restoration of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels within normal range within 3 months. TSH levels were investigated and recorded before and after treatment. This case evaluates the role of constitutional prescribing of Natrium muriaticum 30C in water dose in managing Hypothyroidism.
