Anesthetic evaluation of zoletil with dexmedetomidine, xylazine, and butorphanol in goats (Capra Hircus)

Abstract

The present study was conducted to evaluate and compare the anesthetic efficacy and physiological effects of tiletamine-zolazepam (zoletil) combined with dexmedetomidine, xylazine, and butorphanol in goats. Eighteen healthy goats were randomly divided into three groups consisting of six animals in each. Animals in group TZD received zoletil with dexmedetomidine, group TZX received zoletil with xylazine, and group TZB received zoletil with butorphanol. Various parameters including induction time, duration of anesthesia, recovery time, and clinicophysiological variables such as heart rate, respiratory rate, rectal temperature, and oxygen saturation were recorded at different time intervals. Statistical analysis was performed the results revealed that induction time did not differ significantly among the groups (p>0.05).
