Adjunctive individualized homoeopathic management in a case of tubercular pleural effusion: A case report
Abstract
Background: Tubercular pleural effusion is a common extrapulmonary manifestation of tuberculosis, typically managed with Anti- Tubercular Treatment (AKT). Complementary approaches as adjuncts are under- reported in structural clinical literature. Case presentation: A 24-year-old male IT professional presented with left-sided pleuritic chest pain, dyspnea on exertion, dry cough, low-grade fever, and rapid weight loss. Radiological and laboratory evaluation confirmed left-sided pleural effusion secondary to pleural tuberculosis. The patient was on standard AKT and sought adjunctive homoeopathic treatment. Based on detailed constitutional assessment and repertorial analysis, phosphorus 30C was prescribed as an adjunct to AKT. Outcome: Progressive improvement was observed in pain intensity, respiratory symptoms, vitality, and radiological resolution of pleural effusion, without adverse effects. Conclusion: This case highlights the potential supportive role of individualized homeopathic treatment as an adjunct to standard therapy for tubercular pleural effusion and demonstrates its safe integration with conventional treatment.
