Homoeopathic management of keratosis pilaris with Arsenic Album: A case report

Abstract

Background: Keratosis Pilaris (KP) is a common, benign disorder of follicular keratinization characterized by small, rough, follicular papules, most frequently involving the extensor surfaces of the arms, thighs, and trunk. Although several conventional treatment options such as emollients, keratolytic agents, and topical therapies are available, long-term and satisfactory improvement is often limited. Case report: This case report describes the homoeopathic management of keratosis pilaris in a 40-year-old male patient. The patient presented with dry skin, rough follicular papules, restlessness, anxiety, and emotional distress. After detailed case taking and analysis based on the totality of symptoms, Arsenicum album 30C was selected as the constitutional remedy. The patient was followed up periodically, and progressive improvement was observed in the texture of the skin along with reduction in associated subjective symptoms. The present case indicates that individualized constitutional homoeopathic treatment may be beneficial in the management of keratosis pilaris. However, further systematic clinical studies with larger sample sizes are required to evaluate the effectiveness of homoeopathic intervention in such chronic dermatological conditions.
