A study on diameter of femurs & humerus bi- epicondyle among university level mallakhamb and kho-kho players

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to compare bi-epicondyle diameter of Humerus and Femurs among University level Mallakhamb and Kho-kho players. For this objective Total (N=160) subjects 80 each from Mallakhamb and kho-kho players of University level participation of Aligarh and Agra Region. Their age ranged between 17 to 25 years Humerus and femurs bi-epicondyle diameter was measured with the help of sliding caliper. Descriptive statistics and independent T-test was applied on gathered data at .05 level of significance. The finding shows that Mallakhamb players are having greater humerus (5.82) and femurs (7.38875) bi-epicondyle diameter compared to kho-kho (5,5175) and (6.9325) respectively. The calculated t values for humerus and femurs bi-epicondylar were greater than obtained p values were less than 0.05 signify differences between the two groups. The findings of this study revealed that mallakhamb leads to greater skeletal robustness and bone breadth development than kho-kho players, it causing higher demands on strength, balance and weight- bearing activities. It also concluded that the greater humerus and femur bi-epicondylar of mallakhamb players may contribute positive performance. The findings of this study recommended for talent identification, training planning and selection of university level athletes.
