Effectiveness of iliopsoas positional release technique on running speed in adolescent football players
Abstract
Background: During the swing phase of running, the iliopsoas is active for 30-60% of the cycle. Tightness/tender points in this muscle can reduce the force of hip flexion, leading to a decrease in running speed when the hip flexion velocity slows down. Positional Release Technique is a method that uses tender or trigger points and positions the muscle in a way that shortens it to relieve discomfort.Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of Positional Release Technique of Iliopsoas muscle on running speed in Football playersMethodology: 40 football players were given Positional release technique for Iliospsoas muscle along with Pre-assessment, immediate post-assessment and a follow-up assessment after one week using sprint test (40 meters)Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is based on the comparison of pre post and after 1-week follow-up mean of 40 meters’ sprint test of the players which concluded that there is no significant increasing of running speed in adolescent football players, while players experienced immediate comfort, there was no statistically significant change.
