Survey for the incidence of soil borne diseases of acid lime (Citrus aurantifolia (Christm) Swingle) in Vijayapur district of northern Karnataka

Abstract

Acid lime (Citrus aurantifoliaSwingle) is one of the four commercially important citrus fruit crop grown in India among the citrus species. It belongs to the family Rutaceaeand genus Citrus aurantifolia (Swingle). Among many soils borne diseases of acid lime, dry root rot/wilt is considered to be a severe disease caused by Fusarium solani which is prevalent in northern Karnataka. Random roving survey was conducted in major acid lime areas of northern Karnataka viz., Vijayapur and Bagalkote districts during 2021-2022. Results revealed that the wilt disease incidence was there in both the surveyed districts and the incidence was in the range of 12.67- 34.33 per cent. The highest wilt disease incidence of acid lime in Vijayapur district was observed at Teggihalli village (56.67%) followed by Atharga village (49.41%) of Indi taluk whereas no incidence was observed at Jayawadgi village (00.00%) of BasavanaBagewadi taluk and least incidence was observed at Banoshi (8.75%) village of Muddebihal taluk. At Bagalkote district, the highest incidence was recorded in Mallapur village (13.75%) of Bagalkote taluk and the lowest at Kadakol village (12.22%) of village of Jamkhandi taluk (Bagalkote district). Among the talukas of Vijayapur district, more wilt disease incidence was observed at Indi taluk (34.33%), whereas least average disease incidence was observed at Basavana Bagewadi taluk (14.17%). In Bagalkote district, the highest disease incidence was recorded at Bagalkote taluk (13.54%) whereaslowest was recorded at Jamkhandi taluk (12.67%).
