Descriptions of two new Afrotropical Muscidae species (Diptera) and of four species with a hitherto “unavailable name” (Art. 16.4 of the ICZN Code)
Abstract
The study of African Muscidae revealed a Morellia female which had been collected in 1957 but had not been identified yet and a female of Lispocephala originating from 1911 which, despite some existing differences, was assigned in 1950 to Lispocephala obscura with some reservation. Both specimens have been re-identified, using newer identification keys, and compared with similar-looking species. They are evidently specimens of two new species, which are introduced as Morellia congoa spec. nov. and Lispocephala masindina spec. nov. In addition, four Dichaetomyia species are briefly described again to meet the requirements of the ICZN for the acceptance of the scientific names of the species.
