The package of Ascaris, rare cause of intestinal occlusion: About a case and review of literature

International Journal of Surgery Science · 2026 · Vol. 10(1) · pp. 23–26

Abstract

Ascariasis, caused by Ascaris lumbricoides, is the most common intestinal parasitic infection in the world, affecting mainly developing countries. Intestinal obstruction is one of the rare complications of this parasitic infection that can lead to serious developments in the disease. We report a case of a patient treated for intestinal obstruction due to an ascariasis mass at the Lubumbashi University Clinics in the Surgery Department.
