Evaluation of morpho-phenological traits and yield parameters in groundnut genotypes under varied moisture regimes
Abstract
A field study was conducted during summer, 2023 at All India Coordinated Research Project on Groundnut, Main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad to investigate and quantify the effects of drought stress on the reproductive yield of groundnut. The 16 groundnut genotypes were advanced to field screening under non-stress and stress condition. Variation was observed in morpho-phenological and yield potential traits such as plant height, days to 50% flowering, days to peg initiation, days to physiological maturity and yield parameters. The genotypes GND-1 has recorded highest plant height, Dh-302 and GND-11 recorded early peg initiation, GND-1 recorded highest kernel yield, Dh-299 recorded highest shelling percent and GND-2 and GND-3 recorded highest test weight and harvest index under stress conditions respectively. Identification of effects of drought stress on morpho-phenological attributes and yield parameters in response to drought can be promising for selection and breeding of drought resistant genotypes.
