Morphological evaluation of senna (Cassia angustifolia Vahl.) genotypes
Abstract
An experiment on morphological evaluation of senna genotypes was carried at the dept. of Plantation, Spices, medicinal and Aromatic crops, college of horticulture, University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot during late Rabi of 2023-24 and 2024-25. It was laid out in Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) and replicated twice with 59 senna genotypes collected from TNAU, Coimbatore and ICAR-DMAPR, Gujarat. The objective was to find the best senna genotype for northern dry zone of Karnataka. The data of two season was pooled and represented in results. The genotype DCA-252 observed with the tallest plants at both 90 and 120 DAS and DCA-245 showed tallest plants at 150 DAS. The genotypes, DCA-252, DCA-86 and DCA-245 recorded maximum number of primary branches per plant at 90,120 and 150 DAS respectively. The genotype DCA-62 showed early first flowering and taken lesser number of days to attain 50 per flowering. DCA-165 observed with the highest fresh leaf yield per ha. DCA-112 reported with highest dry leaf yield per ha and DCA-62 has reported with highest dry pod yield per ha.
