Best fit probability distribution for rainfall data of Mahabubnagar District, Telangana

Abstract

Seasonal rainfall data for 10 years, from 2008 to 2017, was collected from ARS, Palem, Mahabubnagar district in Telangana to find out which probability distribution fits best.The latest tool called "easyfit" is a Windows-based software that is easy to use.It checks around 70 different probability distributions and performs two types of goodness-of-fit tests: Kolmogorov and Anderson.It also ranks the distributions based on how well they fit.This analysis helps in determining water needs for summer crops under a water table management system and helps in planning crop water use for different rainfall patterns.Analyzing seasonal and annual rainfall probabilities helps in better management and efficient use of water resources.
