International Journal of Research in Agronomy · 2025 · Vol. 8(12) · pp. 853–861

Abstract

The present investigation entitled “growth performance of sacred basil as influenced by biostimulant treatments” was conducted during 2021-22 and 2022-23 at the College of Horticulture, SKLTGHU, Rajendranagar. The experiment comprised seven biostimulants and two varieties laid out in a factorial randomized block design (RBD). The results revealed that treatment T₆ comprising CIM-Ayu variety with seaweed extract @ 10% (V₁B₆) significantly enhanced growth attributes and recorded the highest plant height (114.35, 113.95 and 114.15), number of primary branches per plant (51.80, 52.09 and 51.95), number of secondary branches per plant (126.44, 132.76 and 129.60), stem diameter (mm) (17.39, 17.50 and 17.45), Leaf area (cm2/plant) (7625.07, 7129.73 and 7377.40), Leaf area index (4.77, 4.46 and 4.61), fresh weight of plant (g/plant) (764.51, 762.57 and 763.54) and dry weight of plant (g/plant) (292.72, 301.63 and 297.18) were recorded during the years 2021, 2022 and pooled, respectively. Whereas harvest index was observed to be non significant.
