Feeding indices of Cyprinus carpio (Linnaeus, 1758) from Yeldari dam Maharashtra India

Abstract

Parbhani district consists of many fresh water bodies; one of them is Yeldari dam, situated in the in Yeldari village. Yaldari dam is largest dam in Parbhani district which providing water to agriculture and drinking as well as for fish culture to know about more details about this dam and its link of food chain. During this study it was observed that the GaSI values ranges from from 0.45 to 1.36 in different size group of fishes. Fullness index values ranges from 0.7 to 1.8 in different size group of fishes. Vacuity index in Cyprinus carpio observed 22.44%. It was also observed that as the fish grow in size feeding intake of fishes is getting slow or low as compare to the young fishes. Condition factor in male highest observed in month of January and lower values observed in August while in female higher condition factor observed in June and lower values observed in April.
