Survey of major diseases of plantation crops in Sindhudurg district

Abstract

A survey was conducted during September 2023 to October 2025 for two consecutive years to observe disease prevalence of plantation crops in Sindhudurg district. The roving survey of diseases has been conducted covering the crops such as Cashew, Coconut, Arecanut, Jackfruit, and Blackpepper in Sindhudurg district. The diseases such as Anthracnose, Red rust. Gummosis and Pink diseases has been observed in Cashew crops. The other diseases occurs such as Leaf blight of coconut, fruit rot of Arecanut and Jackfruit and Quick and Slow wilt of Blackpepper. The Percent incidence of leaf blight in Coconut range from 17.4 to 21.5%. Whereas the incidence of fruit rot of Arecanut range from 17.6 to 19.2%.and that of Jackfruit is 12 to 13%. In case of black pepper, the incidence of Quick wilt is of 4.6 to 5.3 and that of slow wilt is of 13.3 to 17.3. The overall occurrence of disease is varied from low to medium range.
