Impact of the Pashudhan Jagruti Abhiyan on Livestock Health and Dairy Farming in Assam in 2023-24

Abstract

The Pashudhan Jagruti Abhiyan (PJA), a pioneering initiative by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, has significantly impacted livestock health and dairy farming practices across seven aspirational districts of Assam. Through a series of infertility camps and awareness seminars conducted by the College of Veterinary Science, Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Khanapara, in collaboration with local Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Assam, the program has successfully addressed the critical issues faced by dairy farmers, especially in managing animal infertility. This article explores the outcomes and insights gained from the various activities conducted under the Pashudhan Jagruti Abhiyan.
