Deep learning for image classification: A beginner's guide

Abstract

Deep learning has emerged as a revolutionary approach in the field of image classification, enabling machines to recognize and categorize visual data with remarkable accuracy. Image classification tasks, which involve assigning a label to an image based on its content, have been significantly enhanced by deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs). These models have shown exceptional performance in a wide range of applications, from medical imaging to autonomous driving. However, for beginners, navigating the complexities of deep learning can be challenging due to the variety of models, tools, and techniques available.
