Assessment of plasma magnesium levels in subjects who have suffered cryptogenic ischemic strokes
Abstract
Introduction: Cryptogenic ischemic stroke (CIS) is a major public health problem, especially in our region where young people are increasingly affected. Several cardiovascular risk factors are being evaluated, including blood magnesium levels. The objective of this study was to evaluate serum magnesium levels in subjects who had suffered cryptogenic IS. Methodology: This was a case-control study. Subjects were recruited from the neurology department of the Fann University Hospital between November 2021 and May 2022. The samples were analyzed in the biochemistry laboratory of the same facility using enzymatic methods and according to the supplier's recommendations.
