Abstract

Combined injuries involving a fracture of the scaphoid bone, fracture of the head of the fifth metacarpal bone, and simultaneous dislocations of the second, third, fourth, and fifth carpometacarpal joints with dislocation of the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint are extremely uncommon. These injuries are often overlooked due to subtle clinical signs and difficulty in interpretation of initial radiographs. Delayed or missed diagnosis may lead to significant morbidity including chronic pain, post-traumatic degenerative arthritis, reduced grip strength, instability, and long-term functional limitation of the hand. Early identification and appropriate management are therefore essential to restore hand biomechanics and prevent complications.
