Morphological studies and physicochemical studies of flowers and roots of Leonotis nepetifolia in Sidhi District (M.P.) India

Abstract

Leonotis nepetaefolia (Linn.) R.Br., a member of the Lamiaceae family, is commonly known as lion’s ear, annual lion’s ear, or christmast candlestick. Medicinal plants have long served as a significant source of remedies. In this research, various macroscopic characteristics of the plant including its color, odor, size, shape, and taste were examined. Additionally, physicochemical analyses such as pH value, loss on drying, foreign organic matter, total ash content, water-soluble ash content, acid-insoluble ash content, water-soluble extractive value, alcohol-soluble extractive value, and swelling index were conducted. This study focuses on the morphological and physicochemical properties of the flowers and roots of Leonotis nepetaefolia.
