Efficacy of doxorubicin HCL versus paclitaxel in the management of canine mammary gland tumours with reference to haemato-biochemical changes

Abstract

The present study focused on evaluating the impact of chemotherapeutic agents on haemato-biochemical parameters in dogs. Out of 111 neoplastic cases reported, 27 were referred for detailed clinical examination and subsequent surgical and chemotherapeutic management. From these, 12 canine mammary gland tumour cases were selected and randomly allocated into two groups: surgical excision with adjuvant doxorubicin hydrochloride (Group I) and surgical excision with adjuvant paclitaxel (Group II). The findings indicated that paclitaxel showed better effectiveness in managing canine mammary gland tumours compared to doxorubicin.
