Evaluate of organic and inorganic inputs on wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) yield

Abstract

The present study was conducted at the Agronomy Research Farm, Eklavya University, Damoh (Madhya Pradesh), to evaluate the effect of organic and inorganic nutrient sources on wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) yield. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Block Design with eight treatments and four replications, using variety PBW-343. Treatments consisted of different combinations of recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF), farmyard manure (FYM), and vermicompost. Results indicated that integrated nutrient management (INM), particularly the combination of 75% RDF with 25% nitrogen through FYM or vermicompost, significantly improved yield attributes such as number of ear heads, spike length, grains per spike, and test weight. These treatments also recorded higher grain, straw, and biological yields compared to sole organic or inorganic sources. Integrated approaches enhanced soil health, nutrient availability, and crop productivity. Overall, INM proved to be the most effective strategy for achieving sustainable wheat production in the region.
