Comparative analysis of lower limb biomechanics before and after plyometric training in badminton and Kabaddi players

Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the impact of a structured six-week plyometric training intervention on the lower limb biomechanics of badminton and kabaddi players at a university level. To this end, 120 athletes - 30 males and females from each sport; 17-25 years old completed three training sessions weekly for six subsequent weeks. The drills conducted were hop, jump, and bound and of a progressively increasing difficulty level. The participants also performed pre- and post-training vertical jump and standing broad jump measurements, the agility T-test, the Star Excursion Balance Test and the isometric lower-limb strength test. The key findings and results, including the between-group results and effect size, will be inserted here once the analysis is complete. Overall, it is anticipated that the results of this study may clarify the extent of the impact of plyometric training on sport-specific adaptation and differentiate in the response to plyometric training among men and women. These findings have implications for the use of evidence-based conditioning in court and contact sports to promote optimal performance while minimising injury risk via enhanced lower-limb NMC and balance.
