Evaluation of various seed treatments for improving germination and seedling vigour of Dragon fruit under shade net house

Abstract

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the different seed treatments for improving germination and seedling vigour of Dragon fruit under shade net house of pt. Kishori Lal Shukla College of Horticulture and Research Station, Rajnandgaon (C.G.) during the year 2024-25. Freshly extracted dragon fruit seeds were subjected to different seed treatment viz. Control-(T0), GA3 @ 100 ppm (T1), GA3 @ 150 ppm (T2), KNO3 @ 2% (T3), KNO3 @ 3% (T4), NAA @ 100 ppm (T5), NAA @ 150 ppm (T6), Thiourea @ 250 ppm (T7), Thiourea @ 500 ppm (T8), BA @ 15 ppm (T9), BA @ 20 ppm (T10) The experiment was laid out in CRD with 3 replications. The results of the experiment revealed that seed treated with GA3 @ 150 ppm took minimum days (4.05) for seed germination, 7.25 days for 50 percent germination recorded maximum germination percentage (91.00%), seedling vigour index-I (1748.11) and seedling vigour index-II (804.44).
