Effect of different plant growth regulators on growth and yield of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)
Abstract
The present study entitled “Effect of different plant growth regulators on growth and yield of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)” was carried out during kharif season 2024-25 in the research and instructional farm at Khudmudi under College of Horticulture and Research Station, Sankara, Patan Durg (C.G.). The field experiment was conducted in randomized block design with three replications and ten treatments consisting a control with three plant growth regulators viz., Control (T0), NAA @50 ppm (T1), NAA @ 75 ppm (T2), NAA @ 100 ppm (T3), GA3 @ 25 ppm (T4), GA3 @ 50 ppm (T5), GA3 @ 100 ppm (T6), Ethrel @ 100 ppm (T7), Ethrel @ 150 ppm (T8), Ethrel @ 200 ppm (T9). The finding of the present investigation clearly indicated that the foliar application of GA3 100 ppm gave significantly better performance at vegetative character like maximum plant height (166.78 cm), node at first male flower (2.18) and Ethrel @ 200 pmm increased node at first female flower (4.27). It also GA3 100 ppm day to first appear of male flower (22.33) and Ethrel 200 ppm day to first appear of female flower (27.90). As well as GA3 100 ppm gave maximum number of male flower per plant (50.25) and Ethrel 200 ppm maximum number of female flower per plant (34.55). In case GA3 100 ppm of yield parameter like maximum average fruit length (15.20 cm) and as well as average fruit width (4.68 cm)yield per plant (2.22 kg), yield per plot (12.80 kg) and yield per ha (213.33 q) found better Ethrel 200 ppm treated plant. Also increased benefit cost ratio (2.24) found Ethrel 200 ppm.
