International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2025 · Vol. 9(10S) · pp. 2139–2141

Abstract

The present investigation entitled “Effect of seed pretreatments on germination of Ocimum tenuiflorum var. CIM Ayu” was carried out at Pt. KLS College of Horticulture and Research Station, Rajnandgaon, during Summar season 2024-25. The experiment was conducted in Completely Randomized Block Design with 11 treatments of Control, scarification, Hot water treatment, water soaking, concentrated sulphuric acid, 2 levels of GA3 (1000, 2000 µm), 2 levels of IAA (1 µm, 2 µm), 2 levels of BA (100 µm, 200 µm) and replicated in three times. The observations were recorded for germination and growth characters of Ocimum. In case of seed pretreatments, GA3 @ 2000 µm has resulted in maximum germination percentage, survival percentage, quickest mean germination time, highest shoot length and IAA @ 1 µm produced highest root length in 30 DAS. Hence, on the basic of result obtained from the present investigation it can be concluded that the GA3 @ 2000 µm was found best treatment for seed germination of Ocimum tenuiflorum var, CIM Ayu.
