Impact of plyometric training on physical fitness and physiological variables among college level kabaddi players

Abstract

The effects of plyometric training on the physiological responses and physical fitness of college level kabaddi players were examined in this study. Forty kabaddi players were chosen from CMS College of Science and Commerce Coimbatore in order to fulfill the study's objectives. Twenty subjects were divided into two equal groups at random. Group II served as the control group (CG), whereas Group I received plyometric training (PTG). For twelve weeks, the experimental group received plyometric training three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). Other than their regular tasks, the control group received no instruction of any kind. Before and after the training period, the physiological variables Vo2 max (Queen College step test), agility (4x10 meter shuttle run), and flexibility (sit and reach test) were measured. The data collected from the individuals was statistically examined with ‘t’ test to find out significant improvement if any at 0.05 level of confidence. The current plyometric training resulted in a considerable improvement in the kabaddi players' flexibility, agility, and Vo2 max.
