Abstract

The current investigation was carried out for the assessment of genetic parameters in 30 Mungbean genotypes, during the kharif season of 2024. The study adopted a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications and gathered data on 13 metric traits to explore variability, heritability, genetic advancement, correlations and path coefficient. In the present investigation Global Seeds 8292 was superior in early flowering and days to maturity. Variety RMG- 1166 was found to be superior for most of the traits under study. It became apparent that phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) exceeded genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV), implying the influence of environmental factors on the expression of the studied traits. Furthermore, The high heritability coupled with high genetic advance as percent of mean specified additive gene action was observed for the traits viz., number of clusters per plant (h2b = 66.08%, GAM = 23.20%), number of pods per cluster (h2b = 85.36%, GAM = 44.88%) and number of pods per plant (h2b= 76.84%, GAM = 26.54%). However, the values of genotypic correlation coefficients were exceeding their corresponding phenotypic counter parts. The characters viz., number of primary branches per plant, number of clusters per plant, number of pods per cluster, grain yield per plant and biological yield per plot reported positive and highly significant genotypic as well as phenotypic correlations with grain yield per plot. High positive direct effect on grain yield per plot was revealed by grain yield per plant and test weight. Number of pods per cluster and number of pods per plant contributed positively via number of grains per pod towards grain yield per plot.
