Fatty acid profile in high protein rice distiller dried grain with solubles

International Journal of Advanced Biochemistry Research · 2025 · Vol. 9(9) · pp. 653–655

Abstract

A study was carried out to assess the fatty acid profile in high protein Rice Distiller Dried Grain with Soluble (rDDGS), a byproduct of the ethanol manufacturing process. Six (6) samples were procured from various sources. Highest concentration of fatty acids present in rDDGS were Linoleic Acid (35.56±0.19), Oleic Acid (29.17±0.43), Palmitic Acid (27.68±0.11), Stearic Acid (3.46±0.12), Linolenic Acid (1.56±0.24), Myristic Acid (0.91±0.13), Arachidic Acid (0.67±0.08) and Palmitoleic Acid (0.55±0.05) in that order. Capric Acid, Lauric Acid, Behenic Acid, Eicosapentaenoic Acid and Docosahexaenoic Acid were not detected in high protein rice DDGS. The Free Fatty Acid was 15.81±1.03 per cent in high protein Rice DDGS.
