Genetic variability, heritability and genetic advances in chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) Genotypes

Abstract

The present study was conducted to assess genetic variability, heritability, and genetic advance in chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) during the kharif season of 2024-2025. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with all treatments randomly allotted to the plots and replicated three times. Seedlings were transplanted at a spacing of 45 × 60 cm. Observations were recorded on five plants per plot for traits such as days to first flowering, days to 50% flowering, days to physiological maturity, days to harvest maturity, days to fruit initiation, plant height (cm), number of primary branches per plant, number of secondary branches per plant, fruit length, fruit diameter, number of fruits per plant, number of seeds per fruit, seed yield per plant (g), and seed yield per plot (kg). The genotypes S-101, S-102, S-103, S-104, S-105, S-106, and S-107 were evaluated for these traits.
