Seasonal incidence of groundnut leaf miner (Aproaerema modicella Deventer) infesting groundnut

Abstract

The present study entitled, “Seasonal incidence of groundnut leaf miner (Aproaerema modicella Deventer) infesting groundnut” was carried out at the experimental field of AICRP on groundnut, MPKV, Rahuri during kharif 2024. The study revealed that, per cent leaf damage caused by A. modicella varied from 3.9 to 58.5 per cent during the entire crop growth period. The incidence of A. modicella was noticed in 34th Standard Meteorological Week (SMW) i.e. 4th week of September with 20.1 per cent leaf damage. Afterwords, per cent leaf damage gradually increased and reached to its peak damage of 58.5 per cent at 39th SMW i.e. 4th week of September and later on it decreased gradually and reached to minimum leaf damage of 3.9 per cent at 49th SMW i.e. 2nd week of December. However, highly significant positive correlation was noticed between per cent leaf damage and minimum temperature (r = 0.558). On the other hand, positive non significant correlation was found between per cent leaf damage due to groundnut leaf miner and other weather parameters such as maximum temperature, morning and evening relative humidity, rainfall and rainy days.
