Effect of organic manure and nano urea on growth and yield of toria [Brassica rapa var. toria]

Abstract

The present study entitled "Effect of Organic Manure and Nano-Urea on Growth and Yield of Toria (Brassica rapa var. toria)" was conducted to assess the influence of different organic nutrient sources and foliar applications of Nano-Urea on the growth performance, yield parameters, and economic viability of Toria. The experimental soil had a pH of 7.37 to 7.71, EC ranging from 0.21 to 0.48 dS m⁻ ¹, and SOC between 0.32 to 0.45%. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 10 treatments and 3 replications. Treatments consisted of 50% nitrogen through FYM, vermicompost, or poultry manure, combined with Nano-Urea foliar sprays at different crop growth stages (21, 45, and 60 DAS). The results revealed that T9 (50% N through poultry manure + three Nano-Urea sprays at 21, 45 & 60 DAS) significantly outperformed all other treatments in terms of yield and economic returns. This treatment recorded the maximum seed yield (1.025 t/ha), straw yield (3.13 t/ha) and harvest index (25.91%), indicating better biomass partitioning and productivity. The study concludes that integrated nutrient management using poultry manure and Nano-Urea foliar applications is a promising strategy for improving Toria productivity and profitability under similar agro-climatic conditions.
