Impact of phosphorous and plant geometry on growth and yield of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.)
Abstract
The field experiment was carried out during Rabi season of 2024, at crop research farm of Department of Agronomy at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj (U.P.) India. The field experiment entitled, “Effect of Phosphorous and Plant geometry on growth and yield of Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.)” The experiment was laid out in randomized block design (RBD) which consisted of ten treatments and replicated thrice viz. T1: Phosphorus 20 kg/ha along with 15 ´ 15 cm, T2: Phosphorus 40 kg/ha along with 15 ´ 15 cm, T3: Phosphorus 60 kg/ha along with 15 ´ 15 cm, T4: Phosphorus 20 kg/ha along with 30 ´ 15 cm, T5: Phosphorus 40 kg/ha along with 30 ´ 15 cm, T6: Phosphorus 60 kg/ha along with 30 ´ 15 cm, T7: Phosphorus 20 kg/ha along with 45 ´ 15 cm, T8: Phosphorus 40 kg/ha along with 45 ´ 15 cm, T9: Phosphorus 60 kg/ha along with 45 ´ 15 cm, T10: Control (60-40-40 NPK kg/ha). The results showed that the significantly higher plant height (128.07 cm), plant dry weight (88.31g/plant), number of branches (13.73), number of silique per plant (254.23), seeds/silique (20.07), test weight (3.35 g), seed yield (2.53 t/ha), stover yield (6.38 t/ha), harvest index (32.17%), recorded under treatment 9 with application of phosphorus 60 kg/ha along with 45 ´ 15 cm. Higher gross return (INR 112686.00 /ha), net return (INR 83736.00 /ha), and benefit: cost ratio (2.70) also recorded in Phosphorus 60 kg/ha along with 45 × 15 cm as compared with other treatments.
