An analysis of profile characteristics of farmers practicing High Density Planting System (HDPS) in cotton in Telangana

Abstract

The present study was conducted in Karimnagar, Siddipet and Nalgonda districts of Telangana state to analyse the profile characteristics of farmers practicing High Density Planting System in Cotton. A total of 120 respondents were selected randomly for the study. An ex-post facto research design was adopted for conducting the present study. From the results it was found that majority of respondents belonged to middle age category (54.17%), had primary school education (33.33%), with small farm size (41.67%), medium farming experience (42.50%), medium level of innovativeness (53.33%), medium extension contact (54.17%), medium risk taking ability (38.34%), medium information seeking behaviour (56.66), medium mass media exposure (47.50%), medium scientific orientation (47.50%) and low digital literacy (48.34%).
