Evaluation of the effects of nutrient management and irrigation depth on maize growth and yield: A review

Abstract

The third most significant cereal crop is maize, which is farmed for both its seeds and green feed. The quality and yield of maize are significantly influenced by NPK fertilization and adequate water availability, two of the main variables influencing yield. Both water and nutrients are major agricultural production restrictions since maize is regarded as an exhausting crop. For optimal production, maize, especially during the kharif season, needs guaranteed irrigation. In addition to harming the environment, it becomes unfeasible to dump large amounts of fertilizers into the land. Consequently, applying fertilizers at the right dosage not only boosts productivity but also enhances soil and crop quality. Numerous studies on maize's needs for fertilizer and irrigation have been published. Thus, an effort has been made to examine the data that is now accessible on irrigation and fertilization research and how it affects maize growth, yield, and other contributing factors.
