Search of novel immunomodulatory drugs

Abstract

Plant extracts have the ability to either stimulate or depress the immune system since they have immunomodulatory activity. Numerous phytochemicals found in plants, including terpenoids, alkaloids, phenolics, and polysaccharides, are responsible for this activity. These substances may have an effect on both innate and adaptive immunity by influencing various immune cell types and pathways. Molecular docking may be used in a study to look at a molecule obtained from plants that may have immunomodulatory properties. To find out if the molecule binds strongly and how it could interact with a known immune receptor, such as a toll-like receptor (TLR), they could dock it into its binding site. In vitro tests might next be conducted to confirm the docking predictions and evaluate the compound's impact on immune cell function. To pinpoint the precise bioactive substances causing immunomodulatory effects, improve extraction techniques, and assess the security and effectiveness of these plant extracts in clinical settings, more investigation is required.
