Business analysis of Anukaran farmer producer company Ltd, Risala (Bz.) Hingoli with reference to Turmeric

Abstract

The present study investigates the cost economics of turmeric cultivation and processing by member farmers of Anukaran Farmer Producer Company Ltd., Risala (Bz.), Hingoli. With agriculture being a vital sector in India, turmeric holds a unique place due to its commercial, medicinal, and culinary value. The objectives were to analyze the cost of cultivation and the cost of processing turmeric powder. Primary data on input costs, fixed and variable investments, and returns were compiled and analyzed. The study found that the cost of turmeric cultivation per hectare was Rs. 346266.63 with a benefit-cost ratio of 1.59 at cost C3. For turmeric powder processing, the total cost per quintal was Rs. 25426.52, yielding a gross return of Rs. 29174.71 per quintal and a benefit-cost ratio of 2.17. These results suggest significant potential for profitability in turmeric cultivation and processing when conducted under a collective platform like FPCs.
