Correlation studies in lentil genotypes (Lens culinaris Medik.) for morphological, phenological and yield contributing traits under rainfed condition

Abstract

Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) is one of the most important pulse crop grown in Rabi season. It is grown after rice (from late November to early December) and so it complies to complete their reproductive phase in situations where there is a shortage in soil moisture through exposing to mid-term or terminal drought stress. The experiment changed into sixty four lentil genotypes evaluated with one check variety for the correlation studies among morphological, phenological and yield contributing traits for yield improvement in rainfed condition. The results indicated that plant height in both the degrees (50% flowering and physiological maturity) have been definitely correlated with better yields. even as, phenological developments including, days to flower initiation and days to physiological maturity become exhibited that strong negatively correlations with grain yield. In rainfed situation yield contributing traits viz., range of pod plant-1 and take a look at weight have been fantastically high-quality and sizable correlation with grain yield. The all tendencies interpret that, have high quality massive correlation with drought tolerance and they have determinant position in drought tolerance. This statistics may be utilized in future plant breeding programme for stronger grain yield and crop overall performance.
