Present position of tourism in Western Rajasthan

International Journal of Advanced Academic Studies · 2025 · Vol. 7(8) · pp. 28–31

Abstract

This study examines the rising trends and challenges of tourism in Western Rajasthan, focusing on cities like Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Osian, and Bilara. While domestic tourism shows continuous growth, international visitor numbers face hurdles, including infrastructural issues, language barriers, and local disruptions like traffic and touts. The importance of respectful tourist behavior and comprehensive training for guides, drivers, and hospitality staff is emphasized to enhance visitor experience. The paper also highlights the role of museums in preserving cultural heritage and attracting tourists, citing notable institutions in Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer. Despite successes, the tourism sector needs focused attention on cleanliness, management, and public education to sustain growth and maintain the region’s tranquil charm. The findings underscore the need for coordinated efforts among local authorities and communities to improve infrastructure, curb nuisances, and foster an environment conducive to tourism development in Western Rajasthan.
