Effect of Phosphorous Rich Organic Manure (PROM) on levels and assimilation of nutrients in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during the Rabi season of 2024 at the Research Farm of Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur, on loamy sand soil. The study involved eight treatment combinations of phosphorus (P₂O₅) applied through PROM and vermicompost in wheat. The treatments included: Control, 30 kg ha⁻¹ P₂O₅, 30 kg ha⁻¹ P₂O₅ + 4 q ha⁻¹ vermicompost, 40 kg ha⁻¹ P₂O₅, 40 kg ha⁻¹ P₂O₅ + 4 q ha⁻¹ vermicompost, 20 kg ha⁻¹ P₂O₅ through PROM, 30 kg ha⁻¹ P₂O₅ through PROM, and 40 kg ha⁻¹ P₂O₅ through PROM. The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design (RBD) with three replications. The findings showed that the highest nitrogen content in both grain (1.98%) and straw (0.259%) was recorded in treatment T8 (40 kg P₂O₅ ha⁻¹ through PROM), which was statistically at par with T5 (40 kg P₂O₅ ha⁻¹ + 4 q ha⁻¹ vermicompost). Similarly, the maximum nitrogen uptake by grain (80.24 kg ha⁻¹) and straw (14.86 kg ha⁻¹) was also observed in T8, followed closely by treatments T5 and T7.
