Analysis of genetic traits for growth and yield of various genotypes on pea (Pisum sativum. L.) by pre-sowing treatment with Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs)

Abstract

The present study, titled “Analysis of Genetic Traits for Growth and Yield of Various Genotypes on Pea (Pisum sativum. L.) by Pre-sowing Treatment with Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs)” was conducted during the Rabi season of 2024-25 at the Agricultural Research Farm, Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University, Naini, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. 12 pea genotypes treated with GA3 and PEG-6000 were evaluated under a randomized block design with three replications to assess effect of plant growth regulators on genetic traits, yield and yield attributing characters. Data were collected for 15 traits. The analysis of variance revealed significant differences among genotypes for the following traits: DAS to 50% flowering, plant height at 30, 60, and 90 days after sowing (DAS), number of pods per plant, pod length (cm), pod width (cm), number of branches per plant, days to maturity, number of seeds per pod, seed yield per plot (kg), biological yield (kg), 100-seed weight (g), harvest index (%), and seed yield per plant (g). The experiment comprised of 12 different pre-sowing seed treatment viz., T1 (KALI NAINA + control), T2 (KASHI UDAI + control), T3 (PANT MATAR 155 + control), T4 (KASHI AGETI + control), T5 (KALI NAINA + GA3 @ 0.02%), T6 (KASHI UDAI + GA3 @ 0.02%), T7 (PANT MATAR 155 + GA3@ 0.02%,) T8 (KASHI AGETI + GA3 @ 0.02%), T9 (KALI NAINA + PEG -6000 @ 0.03%), T10 (KASHI UDAI + PEG-6000 @ 0.03%), T11 (PANT MATAR 155 + PEG-6000 @ 0.03%), T12 (KASHI AGETI + PEG-6000 @ 0.03%). Among different pre-sowing seed treatment, T5 (KALI NAINA + GA3 @ 0.02%) was recorded height plant height 30 DAS (cm) (46.93 cm), plant height 60 DAS (128.27 cm), plant height 90 DAS (167.13 cm), number of branches per plant (8.27), seed yield per plot (4.83 kg), biological yield (6.6 kg) and seed yield per plant (36.67 g). Hence, it is concluded that for better plant growth, number of branches per plant, maximum seed yield as well as production of quality seeds, the pea seeds treated with GA3 @ 0.002%.
