Synthesis, characterization and spectral studies of pyridoxal derivatives

Journal of Research in Chemistry · 2025 · Vol. 6(1) · pp. 210–215

Abstract

Pyridoxal is a form of vit-B6, which requires in very less amount in human body. Some bacteria like Granulicatella and Abiotrophia, require this vitamin for growth. It was thought that as pyridoxal is needed, its derivative is also needed. And if yes, antibacterial test of its derivatives should be done. If positive turns out, there will be a new step in the field of medicine. With this regard 3-hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)-2,6-dimethylpyridine-4-carbaldehyde has been prepared. After preparation physical properties, conductivity, molecular mass determination and spectral studies like IR, NMR and UV have studied. Finally structure of compound was confirmed.
