Effect of nutrient management on yield and economics of pearl millets (Pennisetum glaucum L.)

Abstract

A field experiment was carried out at “Effect of nutrient management on growth, yield and quality of pearl millets (Pennisetum glaucum L.)” during kharif 2024 at Agriculture farm, Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur on loamy sand soil. Results revealed that application of 75% RDF + 2.5 ton VC to the pearl millet crop significantly number of effective tillers, number of grains per ear, ear length, seed, straw and biological yield of pearl millets as compared to control and remained statistically at par with 50% RDF + 5 ton VC. Maximum net return and B: C ratio were recorded with application of 75% RDF + 2.5 ton VC. Results revealed that application of 1% NPK spray (at 20, 30 and 40 DAS significantly higher significantly number of effective tillers, number of grains per ear, ear length, seed, straw and biological yield by pearl millets. Net and B: C was higher as compared to control, 1% NPK spray (at 45 DAS, whereas 1% NPK spray at 20 and 40 DAS and 1% NPK spray (at 20, 30 and 40 DAS at par with each other and superior to control.
