Impact of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) Inoculation on Yield of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and soil properties under Vertisol
Abstract
The field experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2024-25 at Wheat and Maize Research Unit, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani on Vertisol. The experimental was laid out in a randomized block design with three replications and eight treatments viz., T1 - absolute Control, T2 -100% NPK T3 - 75% NPK, T4 -100% NPK + AMF @ 15 Kg/ha, T5 -100% NPK + AMF 7.5 kg/ha, T6 -75% NPK + AMF @ 15 Kg/ha, T7 -75% NPK + AMF @ 15 Kg/ha and T8 AMF @ 15 Kg/ha. The results highlighted that the application of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi significantly gave maximum straw (6622.46 kg/ha) and grain yield (3787.85 kg/ha) of wheat by treatment 100% NPK + AMF @ 15 Kg/ha followed by 75% NPK + AMF @ 15 Kg/ha, 100% NPK + AMF 7.5 kg/ha respectively. However, pH, and EC were found non-significant in soil after harvesting of wheat but organic carbon found maximum in 100% NPK + AMF @ 15 Kg/ha (7.31 g/kg) followed by 75% NPK + AMF @ 15 Kg/ha (7.27 g/kg). Significantly higher values of available N in soil (234.01 kg/ha), phosphorus (24.65 kg/ha) and potassium (618.18 kg/ha) were recorded at harvesting stage of wheat in treatment receiving 100% NPK + AMF @ 15 Kg/ha.
