Influence of weather parameters on the population dynamics of citrus fruit fly during kharif (Ambia bahar) season in Maharashtra

International Journal of Agriculture and Food Science · 2025 · Vol. 7(8) · pp. 35–38

Abstract

In this article the population dynamics of citrus fruit fly was monitored using methyl eugenol baited traps during Kharif (Ambia bahar) season of 2024 in citrus orchard of Regional Fruit Research Station, Katol. Adults were captured from early August to the end of October in the citrus orchard which peaked in August (32nd SMW). Adult population peak coincided with the ripening period of citrus (Citrus reticulata Blanco). Correlation of mean number of fruit fly/trap with the weather parameters showed that the significant positive correlation was observed in case of minimum temperature, morning and evening relative humidity while significant negative correlation was observed in case of maximum temperature.
