Assessment of economics of wheat influenced by organic nutrients

Abstract

This study investigates the economic performance of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under different organic nutrient treatments in the Dehradun region. Excessive reliance on chemical fertilizers has negatively impacted soil fertility and sustainability, prompting exploration into organic alternatives. A field experiment was conducted using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with seven treatments comprising Farmyard Manure (FYM), vermicompost, and Poultry Manure (PM) in various combinations. The treatment T₇ vermicompost (2.5 t/ha) + poultry manure (1.25 t/ha) produced the highest grain yield (33.2 q/ha) and net returns, proving most effective in enhancing productivity and economic viability. The results advocate integrated organic nutrient management as a sustainable and cost-effective approach for wheat cultivation.
