The diverse field of synthetic biology: Applications and future prospects
International Journal of Biology Sciences · 2025 · Vol. 7(7) · pp. 119–124
Abstract
Drawing from biology, engineering, and computing sciences, synthetic biology refers to the design and construction of new biological systems or reconfiguration of existing ones for novel applications. Within this very short period, the disciplines that were born out of this area have had speedy evolution towards advances in medicine, agriculture, and environmental sustainability as well as bio-manufacturing. This review presented here looks into the different states of synthetic biology. It discusses applications, challenges and future directions.
